The details that shorten the distance to a firm number
A picture from a couple of angles, a paint stick or garden trowel leaned against the stump so its true width reads clearly, how many there are, and what sits close enough to matter - a hedge you want kept, a run of irrigation, a stretch of stone edging along a drive. Given that, most single-stump jobs on open ground get priced the same day without anyone needing to visit first.
What's nearby changes the plan more here than the stump's own size does. The identical stump standing six feet from a boxwood border gets handled differently than one sitting alone in open lawn, and knowing that upfront keeps the number we give you the number you actually pay.
The cases that still warrant a look in person
A handful of situations don't price reliably from a photo - a large trunk where the underground root spread is likely wider than what shows above ground, a property behind a locked gate where we need to see the approach for ourselves, or a stump sitting near enough to a specimen you intend to keep that the true distance between the two root systems needs measuring on foot. For those, we'll set up a brief, unannounced visit at no charge, so whatever number follows is one we'll hold to on the day we return.
